Short Wall Bracing Installation Guide

Installation Guide – Stronghold Bracket Face Outside

Step 1

Fix the M20 anchor in the concrete slab through the wall bottom plate at the designed location without tightening it. Then, place the Stronghold tie-down bracket with the washer plate through. Apply adequate torque to tighten the concrete anchor according to the anchor supplier’s instructions.

Step 2

Insert the glulam short wall member in the pocket of the wall panel and temporarily prop the glulam.

Step 3

Pre-drill all screws with a 5.0mm diameter drill bit. Pre-drilled hole depth shall be similar to but no deeper than the penetration depth of the screw.

Step 4

Install the screws. Fill all the holes on the Stronghold bracket. The recommended torque setting is to be no more than 10 N.m.

Step 5

Fix the top plate to glulam with:
3 screws for GLT up to 360
4 screws for GLT up to 500
5 screws for GLT up to 600

Then, drive the supplied screws from the studs to the glulam short wall member at 600mm maximum spacing along the full length of the stud.

Installation Guide – Stronghold Bracket Face Inside

Step 1

Cut a section of framing timber under the Stronghold bracket. Fix the Stronghold bracket on top of the bottom plate section, with the 10mm thick washer plate under the concrete anchor nut.

Note:

  • The framing timber section shall be the same cross section size as the adjacent wall bottom plate.
  • The length of the section shall be the same as the width of glulam.

Step 2

Place 3 x spacers over the nut.

Step 3

Fit the glulam short wall member inside the Stronghold tie-down bracket. Ensure the glulam seat is directly on the spacer and temporarily prop the glulam member.

Note: Plane down the thickness of the glulam corners to around 64mm if the glulam is too thick to fit inside the Stronghold bracket comfortably.

Step 4

Pre-drill all screws with a 5.0mm diameter drill bit. Pre-drilled hole depth shall be similar to but no deeper than the penetration depth of the screw.

Step 5

Install the screws. Fill all the holes on the Stronghold bracket. Recommended torque setting to be no more than 10 N.m

Step 6

Install wall panels next to the short wall according to the engineering plan.

Step 7

Place a ribbon plate on top and fix with:
3 screws for GLT up to 360
4 screws for GLT up to 500
5 screws for GLT up to 600

Then, drive the supplied screws from the studs to the glulam short wall member at 600mm maximum spacing along the full length of the stud.
