Rod Tie Down Bracket
Installation Guide

Drill through top plate and Noggings at designed location for M12 threaded rod.

Pre-drill* screw location and install** the screws to secure the Rod Tie Down bracket to the top surface of the bottom plate and the side face of the LVL at the designated location. Use four 150mm half-threaded provided screws on the top surface, and either:

• 65mm provided screws for a 63mm LVL on the side surface, or
• 85mm provided screws for a 2x45mm LVL on the side surface

Pre-drill*: Pre-drill screw location with a 5mm diameter drill bit. Pre-drill holes to a depth of 120mm for the top surface, and either:

• 60mm for the side surface of a 63mm LVL, or
• 80mm for the side surface of a 2x45mm LVL.

Install**: The recommended torque setting is to be no more than 10 N.m.

Put the M12 threaded rod through the top plate and nogging. Attach the end of the M12 threaded rod to the Rod Tie Down Bracket. Make sure the end of the threaded rod is flush with the bottom surface of the Rod Tie Down Bracket.

Fix the threaded rod with nut and washer on the top surface of the top plate.

Pre-drill* screw location and install** the screws to secure the Rod Tie Down bracket at the designed location on the bottom surface and the side face of the of the LVL beam using four 150mm half-threaded provided screws on the bottom surface, and either:

• 65mm provided screws for a 63mm LVL on the side surface, or
• 85mm provided screws for a 2x45mm LVL on the side surface.

Preferably, align it with the top rod tie down bracket. If alignment is not possible, a design engineer must check the timber beam design.

Pre-drill*: Pre-drill screw location with a 5mm diameter drill bit. Pre-drill holes to a depth of 120mm for the bottom surface, and either:

• 60mm for the side surface of a 63mm LVL, or
• 80mm for the side surface of a 2x45mm LVL.

Install**: The recommended torque setting is to be no more than 10 N.m.

Attach the threaded rod to the bottom Rod Tie Down Bracket until the end of the threaded rod flush with the bottom surface of the Rod Tie Down Bracket. Continue the threaded rod following the procedures as illustrated in previous steps or else Tie the threaded rod down to the ground.
